Hedgehog Friendly Campus Initiative

The hedgehog population in the UK is experiencing a sharp decline, and these animals need our help to thrive. For this reason, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society is encouraging Institutions to facilitate their reproduction on campus grounds by distributing awards. As a College-wide initiative undertaken by the MCR Committee at the start of 2019, Fitzwilliam College has now been obtained a Silver award (and we are the first College in Cambridge!). As each year a higher rank can be awarded (last year Bronze award was gained), this is an impressive achievement reflecting the effort that has been invested. By implementing tasks from a workbook launched by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, we aim for an accreditation to be obtained in 2021, leading Fitzwilliam College to obtain a Golden Medal! More information about this initiative can be found here.
