Other Opportunities and Events

Reach Cambridge (Job Opportunity)

Reach Cambridge is a company which provides residential academic courses for international students. We are currently recruiting mature students as residential supervisors, teaching staff and senior directors for our summer 2023 programmes, and would be very grateful if you could advertise this opportunity in your email communications/newsletter/notice board.

We have limited places available so students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

This is a great chance for students to gain invaluable experience working with young people from all over the world and key transferable skills for future employment. Many students return each year because they enjoy the job so much and there is opportunity for future growth and development in more senior roles.

Further details about the roles and how to apply are written below.

Summer 2023 Job Opportunities (July & August)

Residential Supervisors

We are looking for candidates who are passionate and dedicated to contributing to a fun, safe and supportive atmosphere within a summer school for highly-motivated international students aged 14-18 years old.

We offer a supportive atmosphere, staff reviews and feedback sessions, competitive pay, free accommodation in Cambridge and half-board meals. In all of our supervisory roles, our staff have the chance to develop transferable skills such as communication, event planning, time-management and leadership skills.

Worker and Legal Kings Affair

Note from the head of Legal and Workers for the King’s Affair 2023:
We have plenty of roles available and it’s a great way for students to earn some extra money or gain access to the event for free after completing a shift. Having been involved in the planning so far, it looks like it’s going to be a really fun event! We typically have high demand for worker positions (particularly first shift workers who can access the event when they are done) and we are reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

Education Resources

Get to know the “Education Resources” tab on the Fitz MCR webpage!
This is a one-stop page which consolidates quick-access links to various academic databases and software that might be useful across different types of courses – not just those on which Cambridge already has institutional licenses for, but also others where one can request directly for a free educational/academic license!

Have any ideas or suggestions on what databases or software to include here? Simply drop an email to mcr.academic@fitz.cam.ac.uk – this page is non-exhaustive and will have rolling updates!

Fitz MCR Charity

This year the MCR are supporting a local charity – Jimmy’s Cambridge – who support the homeless community in Cambridge. Please consider making a donation through our Just Giving page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MCR-Treasurer
