SolidariTee
SolidariTee is a charity founded here in Cambridge in 2017, which is still run entirely by students & young people. We advocate, for long-term change in the way refugees are treated, as well as fundraise to give grants to local partner organisations providing legal aid to refugees in Greece.
If you’d like to be part of a team making direct, real world impact, applications are open to join our Cambridge team, where you can get involved in as many of the following activities as you’d like:
- Awareness-raising events: such as panel discussions, conferences, and film screenings
- Fundraising events: like quizzes, Dance 4 SolidariTee nights, sponsored challenges and more!
- SolidariTee t-shirts: photoshoots, campaigns and sales throughout the year
- Social media: creating infographics, mythbusters and other educational campaigns
In the 21-22 academic year, SolidariTee gave out more than £142,000 in grants to grassroots organisations providing vital refugee aid. To join the movement, head to https://www.solidaritee.org.uk/join-us or email teamsolidaritee@solidaritee.org.uk.
Re: MRI research study: earn £26.50 and a picture of your brain!
We’re conducting brain imaging research on how faces and objects are processed in the brain, and we’re looking for participants to take part. The study session will last around 2 hours in total (only ~40 minutes in the MRI scanner itself).
You will see some images of faces and objects and will have to make a button-press response.
You will be paid £26.50 and receive a printed picture of your brain to take home!
The study will take place at: MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, 5 Chaucer Rd, Cambridge CB2 7EF.
If you’re interested in taking part, please get in touch at alba.peris-yague@mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk for more info or sign up here: https://mrc-cbu.sona-systems.com/default.aspx?p_return_experiment_id=838 .
Education Resources
Get to know the “Education Resources” tab on the Fitz MCR webpage! This is a one-stop page which consolidates quick-access links to various academic databases and software that might be useful across different types of courses – not just those on which Cambridge already has institutional licenses for, but also others where one can request directly for a free educational/academic license! Have any ideas or suggestions on what databases or software to include here? Simply drop an email to mcr.academic@fitz.cam.ac.uk – this page is non-exhaustive and will have rolling updates!
Fitz MCR Charity
This year the MCR are supporting a local charity – Jimmy’s Cambridge – who support the homeless community in Cambridge. Please consider making a donation through our Just Giving page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MCR-Treasurer
